#901 Power and Money Corrupt

They do not; they reveal. I’m attempting to weave a thread from blog 899, (The Mike Tyson quote), through 900, (What’s spilled from your cup), to today, connecting all three under one theme:

It’s about what’s inside and what’s inside is a choice

Power doesn’t corrupt, nor does money. They magnify. An ass is an ass plain and simple. Give an ass power or a lot of money, and his assness magnifies. First, because he thinks that his assification is somehow associated with, or responsible for, his success. Second, because as an ass, he sees money or power as an entitlement and believes himself to be above the laws of gentility and tact and third because people tend to call an ass with money or power a thoroughbred to his face and an ass, only behind his back.

Tying together the past three weeks goes like this.

What you do and how you act in extremes is the Imax version of the iPhone video you’re living each day.

Don’t buy into the “that’s just how I am” nonsense. EVERYTHING IS A CHOICE, even how we react to the news of a dreadful illness, death, loss of fortune, or winning the lottery. We choose our responses.

It may be that the choices you’ve made for the entirety of your life have carved in you a definition of self that seems as predetermined as your DNA. Still, I know that when you get that NEXT punch in the mouth or that jostled coffee cup, forethought with intentional introspection can completely reshape that which you thought was adamantine.
